Geological and magical, the Bois de Païolive is one of the strangest sights of the Ardèche.
Ancient forest made of oak with exceptional heritage value of naturalness and biodiversity, the forest is a real natural labyrinth overlooking the Chassezac.

Located on the communes of VansBanne and Berrias-Casteljau, it is, since the dawn of time “inhabited” by strange and inimitable sculptures jagged limestone blocks and challenged by erosion and seems to have been shaped by a training witch nature. Captivating and enigmatic, it owes its nickname of “Fados’ woods“, woods of fairies where imagination likes to interpret endlessly this mineral chaos.

A walk is required to enter this world of mysteries.
